Mr. International Rubber 2001 (November 10-13, 2000)

Monday Evening

I arrived home in the middle of the afternoon, amidst clouds and sporadic rain.  It was actually spitting a teeny bit of snow in Chicago before I left, and the Weather Channel said they expect something like 6-8 inches in the next week.

(I expect at least 6-8 inches in the next week, hopefully more.  B-)

Next year, I must remember to bring a scarf and gloves with me.  Chicago was friggin’ cold!  (Especially when I was walking three blocks in the rain at 6:15 am on Monday, trying to catch a cab to go back to the hotel.)

I badly bruised the underside of my tongue on Sunday night — nasty dicksucking accident, the details are simply unmentionable — to the point that eating with the tongue piercing in was painful, so I’ve taken it out.  We’ll see if I can get it back in after a day or two.  If not, I’m going to write the entire incident off as an educational loss.

Bill Houghton (of Rubbout fame) sends word that he won the Mr. BC Grizzly contest this weekend at FurrBall.  Congrats, Bill!

And speaking of Rubbout, a number of people at the contest this year were expressing interest in coming out for the event (including our new titleholder, Chad), which should make Bill a happy rubberman.  We may get some of them visiting Seattle for a day or two on either side — all the more reason to get a good Seattle contingent up there next year.

The trip report and associated pictures won’t be up until probably around Christmas, but it will go in piecewise at: http://home.earthlink.net/~rubberize/TripReports/MIR2001 (but there’s nothing at all there now; I’ll get these e-mails up in a day or two).

...bopping to Abba (“Bang-A-Boomerang,” surely one of their great unknown songs — okay, maybe not, and I prefer “King Kong Song,” myself), trying not to stress about issues with the move to Seattle being only 12 days away

A little over a month after the event, my friend Byron sent me tear sheets of the cover and photo page in Gay Chicago Magazine, covering the contest.
