General | The Marvel Universe features a team of alien superheroes — the personal guard of the leader of the Shi’ar Empire — based on the Legion of Super-Heroes. This New X-Men run is notable because it produces new designs for several of the Imperial Guard, and adds or replaces a few existing ones, making it an analogue of the postboot Legion. |
22/23:3 | The ones beaming down are Smasher, Gladiator, Maestrix Lilandra, and Mammoth in the foreground, and probably a guard and Lilandra’s advisor Araki in the background. Smasher is a version of Ultra Boy, and this is the last time he’ll be seen in this costume; Gladiator is a version of Superboy (his real name is Kallark) or M’Onel; Mammoth is new, not corresponding to any specific Legionnaire. |
