Analysis Notes

Cover The artwork for the cover — uncolored — first ran as the cover to Comics Buyer’s Guide #1306 (November 27, 1998).
An earlier version of this cover was available as promo art on the DC Comics web site, featuring several art and color errors which were fixed up before the cover was printed.  Among the color changes were changing Monstress from the original green to the current orange, and changing the color of the inside stripe on Ultra Boy’s pants.  More evident in the final artwork is that the colors of Kinetix’ outfit do not match her current costume (but that should be no surprise for Kinetix, who changes outfits all the time), and Saturn Girl originally had a pink hairband which was removed by coloring it yellow (but the edges of it can still be seen).  Also, Thunder is not wearing a Legion belt, but she does in the comics.
While the Legionnaires are presumably supposed to be flying through space, and they are surrounded by an aura akin to that seen when they are wearing transuits, no transuit equipment is present, so they must be in an atmosphere and the aura is just an art effect.
General Although the numbering continues from the 1998 Secret Files edition, this is technically (according to the indicia) a different series from Legion: Secret Files.
