The next edition of SML Tribal is nearly too hot handle!  We’re proud to present TABOO with guest presenter, the one and only Mollena Williams, The Perverted Negress.  If you’re familiar with her, then you know what you’re in for; if you aren’t, then you better come see what all the fuss is about.  She’s sure to get under your skin and into your head with her class on Taboo Play and Working Through Extremes.  This special edition of Tribal is open to all members of the Leather community!  Get your edgiest kink on with this dynamic speaker, writer, actress, BDSM Educator, Storyteller, International Ms Leather 2010 and Ms. San Francisco Leather 2009.  If you have ever had a scene that lured you with the promise of edgy intensity, but wondered if you could handle the situation before, during or afterward, this discussion is for you!  We will explore the reasons some people enjoy play that is very edgy psychologically, emotionally. and physically, and how you can go about making that fantasy a reality.  Inherent in this discussion is the level of responsibility of both/all partners, how to manage risk, and how you can support your partner in the aftermath.  Edgy play can be hot, and we will look at ways to avoid some common pitfalls, as well as how to recover with grace and honor when things go off of the planned path.
Please Be Advised: Some highly controversial scenes (i.e. racial or incest play, weaponry, etc.) will be discussed.  Please do not attend if these are outside of your comfort zone.

LeatherPDX Queer Munch
Radio Room (1101 NE Alberta, Portland), 6:30–8:30 pm
This munch is for anyone who identifies as queer and their partners.  By queer, we mean gay men, lesbians, fags, dykes, bisexuals, pansexuals, and polysexuals along with transfolk, those who are genderqueer, gender flexible, gender fluid, and gender fuckers.  If the word queer feels like home for part of you or all of you, you are welcome.  And when we say “partner” we mean everything from play partners to life partners.  The Portland Queer Munch will happen every month on the first or second Thursday (depending on scheduling options).
The space is wheelchair accessible and the menu has lots of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options (and all clearly labeled!).  There is plenty of free street parking and the 72 bus will drop you off within a block of The Radio Room.  The munch will meet on the main floor instead of in the lounge areas so that we won’t be limited to 21+.  This does mean that we can’t be too demonstrative about our kink so as not to scare off their other patrons, but the venue is completely aware of what our group is about and is happy to have us there!  Please buy something to support the venue so that they’ll keep having us back.  They do know that not everyone will be ordering food/eating full meals, but please do get a drink or a snack.  Bottomless coffee is $2, and an order of fries is $3, to give you an idea of the prices.

Contest judges are local to the Seattle area, and include one judge drawn from the general membership of Seattle Men in Leather who is neither a member of the Board of Directors nor a former Seattle Leather Daddy or Seattle Daddy’s Boy titleholder.  Contest scoring also includes an audience vote on each title, enabling our leather community to have a direct say in its representatives.  The Seattle Leather Daddy and Seattle Daddy’s Boy titleholders are expected to participate in several club fundraisers during the year, and they are encouraged to do additional fundraising events of their own.  The titleholders are not expected to compete at regional, national, or international contests, and they may not hold another leather title during their year.

WorkshopHigh Protocol Service Workshop
MoonFyre Cafe (5224 SE Foster, Portland), 1:00–4:00 pm / $45 (advanced registration required)
The House of Fyre is well-known for the elegance and precision of their High Protocol Service.  This month, we are sharing our secrets and training you!  If learning High Protocol Service in any capacity has ever interested you, this is the perfect workshop.  High Protocol is an intense level of service and performance that demonstrates Dominant/submissive service of food and beverage.  It allows the submissive to give service to very specific levels of performance, and allows the Dominant to receive service in a formal way intended to feature the power exchange dynamic.  We will teach food and drink presentation and service.  This intensive workshop is designed for both Tops wishing to learn how to train High Protocol, as well as for bottoms wishing to learn how to serve. Single attendees are absolutely welcome (both Tops and bottoms), so don’t hesitate to come on your own.  This intensive is hands-on, which means we will have practice, food and beverage work, and opportunities to actually practice service!  Please come prepared to participate and be aware that it is likely there will be service interaction with others in the class.  Please dress in attire you feel comfortable serving or receiving service in.
Advanced registration required.  This is a private event that is not open to the public.  All attendees must purchase registration in advance.  Space is limited for both Dominant and submissive/server spots and we recommend registering early due to the popularity of this event in the past.  We have sold out each time we hold this workshop. Cost includes food and drinks during service time.  We will serve coffee, tea, and comparable foods.  Guests will also receive a 50% off coupon for that night’s Fetish Night event.

This information is aimed especially at the Seattle gay male leather community.  Some events are included which might be seen as non-gay, non-male, and/or non-leather; they are included due to the perceived breadth of people who may visit this web page and the crossover nature of events of those types with the gay male leather community.
About Out-of-Town Events: These events are listed below a green line for each date, and include both events throughout the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia) and larger-scope national events (especially those which will be attended by some members of Seattle Men in Leather).  For out-of-Seattle events, we typically only list the most prominent ones (socials, board meetings, and the like).  Activity listings for those groups and those regions may provide a broader listings of events.
About Bear, Rodeo, CW Dance, etc., Events: As above, we pick and choose which of these events to include.  All Seattle-area events are included, but only prominent regional and national events are listed.  (As a rule of thumb, we list board meetings and events at leather bars, but not movie nights, munches, dances, etc.)  Activity listings for those groups and those regions may provide a broader listings of events.
About Pansexual and Workshop Events: Also included in the calendar are a selection of events primarily aimed at the kinky straight or pansexual community, but appropriate for or welcoming of gay male (and GLBTQ) leatherfolk. Typically, these are workshops which are not specifically heterosexually themed, but a fewplay parties and weekend events are also included where appropriate. Keeping in mind the gay male leather intent behind this calendar, we list events which have an obvious attraction for and are clearly welcoming of the gay male leather crowd.  (Many “pansexual” events really have nothing to recommend them to gay male leatherfolk: we might not be turned away, but why would we attend?)  Decisions about what to list are informed by the text and imagery of websites and event announcements; if you feel that your event truly should be of interest to gay male leatherfolk and is not currently being listed, please contact us (and check the text and imagery you make available).

Send your event details to us. We will try to list all leather/fetish events expected to be of interest to the GLBTQ leather community, including both one-time events and recurring ones.  Include the event name, date, time, location, cost for the event, and contact info, plus a short description if available.  Deadline for sending items to be included in the weekly e-mail version of the calendar is Monday at 6:00 pm (Pacific time).  Items and corrections provided at other times will be inserted into the online calendar as they are received (and as we have time).
Disclaimer #1: SoundsKinky is not responsible for either the events listed here nor for the accuracy of the information included.  We apologize if we fail to include your event, but we’re only human.  Sometimes events, vacations, work, and life get in the way.  And you darn well better get it to us before the deadline if you want it in the listings!
Disclaimer #2: Seattle Men in Leather (SML) includes events from other organizations on this list as a service to the community.  Only events which are specifically hosted by Seattle Men in Leather qualify for the SML activity rewards program.
