WorkshopFundamentals of Rope Bondage
Max’s dungeon (Seattle), 7:00–10:00 pm / $35 (buy in advance)
Want to add more bondage to your love life?   Wish you felt — and looked — more confident with your rope work?  Have questions about safety, style or what kind of rope to use?  Looking for knots that work well, are easy to tie and that you can actually remember?  Looking for folks who share your interest in rope bondage?  Join Max for the always-popular “Fundamentals of Rope Bondage" class.  This workshop begins with an overview of rope bondage techniques and materials, with lots of "show and tell" items and pointers on buying appropriate bondage materials.  The remainder of the class is a hands-on workshop, full of useful knots and easy-to-tie positions.  By the end of the workshop, you will have some basic skills and will be able to tie up your partner with grace and confidence.  No prior knowledge of bondage or knots is assumed for this class — it's perfectly appropriate for beginners.  If you've already done some bondage it's a great way to tune up your technique.  If you can, come with a practice partner.  If you don't have a partner, come anyway and we'll make sure you get a chance to practice the basic techniques.  Rope Bottoms — this is your chance to meet some rope tops — come learn and get tied up!  Some loaner rope will be available, but bring the following if you can: (1) 10-foot piece of 6mm or 8mm (1) 30-foot pieces of 6mm or 8mm.  As always, the emphasis is on learning and having fun.

WorkshopExploring Extremes: Rape & Abduction Role Play
Club Sapphire at Fairway Center (14220 Interurban Pl. S #110, Tukwila), 1:00–3:00 pm / $30 ($22 in advance, duo/trio pricing available)
TPresented by Jim Duvall.  The last word in this title is the most important, “play”.  This class is about how to make this seemingly illegal and non-consensual activity in the outside world a part of our play.  This is a daunting task that requires close examination of your physical, emotional, philosophical and social concerns of rape and abduction play.  The questions we will explore are how far are we each willing to go for realism and/or how far are we willing to go for safety, and obtaining solid informed consent.  I will talk about my previous play experiences as examples and give details on the ins and outs of negotiating and executing these hot scenes.  All sexes, genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, relationship orientations welcome and celebrated.
BearsSeattle Walking Bears
Green Lake Small Craft Center (5900 West Green Lake Way N, Seattle), 11:00 am–12:00 noon
We gather by the benches between the paved walking path and the restrooms just north of the Small Craft Center.  The most prominent nearby landmark is the grandstand remaining from the former Green Lake Aqua Theater, at the southwest corner of Green Lake.  There is a parking lot on the west side of West Green Lake Way N, opposite the Small Craft Center.  Metro bus routes 44, 62, and E stop within a mile of the Center.  Arrival is around 11:00. We start walking at 11:10.  From there, we head north to walk around Green Lake in the clockwise direction.  The route is 2.7 miles, entirely paved and flat.  If you’re running late, come anyway — depending on when and where you park or take a bus to, you should be able to intercept us somewhere along the path.  We return to our starting point around noon.

The Olympians are a social club for gay (and straight but not narrow) men who enjoy the freedom which comes with nudity.  The group gets together in whole or in part on a monthly basis.  We call these “events”.  They are not necessarily “parties” but potluck functions, which consist of a meal and dessert, followed with social interaction and “other” forms of contact, including physical.  These events are usually hosted in the homes of Olympians’ members, but a few times a year held in a rented space, with complete respect to be given to the owner’s property at all times.  We always want the events to be a pleasant experience, as sharing the company of several other nude men can be.

The Miller River Group Camp is a tranquil, forested campground on the banks of the Miller River in the Cascade Mountains outside of Skykomish.  This will be our 26th annual Kamp Kodiak, one of the Northwest Bears’ longest-running traditions, with some of our members attending annually since the event’s inception in the early 1990s.  New, returning, and existing members from Washington, out of state, or anywhere in the world are welcome to join us for all or any portion of Kamp Kodiak.  Whether it’s sunbathing in the nude by the riverbank or reading in the cool shade of the tall trees, hiking with a small group up to nearby Lake Dorothy or sitting around the campfire visiting with friends old and new, each Kamper gets a chance to create his own paradise.  Many of us wouldn’t miss Kamp Kodiak for anything, and we return year after year, some travelling in from out of state, just for another chance to connect with each other in this idyllic natural setting.

Combining sex and weed is certainly nothing new, but the recent wave of legalization has relaxed the stigma around cannabis and vastly expanded the options for incorporating it into your sex life.  Sophisticated aphrodisiac strains, edibles, sublinguals, and topicals — especially cannabis lube! — are now available to the casual or curious user.  These products have exceptional potential to not only enhance the average person’s sexual satisfaction, but to ease common sexual dysfunction such as vaginismus or post-menopausal inorgasmia by taking advantage of cannabinoids’ singular interaction with the human body.  As with any drug, however, safe and effective use requires an understanding of the principles at play.  All sexes, genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, relationship orientations welcome and celebrated.  Presented by Chelsea Cebara.

QueerPDX Queer Munch
Radio Room (1101 NE Alberta, Portland), 6:30–8:30 pm
This munch is for anyone who identifies as queer and their partners.  By queer, we mean gay men, lesbians, fags, dykes, bisexuals, pansexuals, and polysexuals along with transfolk, those who are genderqueer, gender flexible, gender fluid, and gender fuckers.  If the word queer feels like home for part of you or all of you, you are welcome.  And when we say “partner” we mean everything from play partners to life partners.  The Portland Queer Munch will happen every month on the first or second Thursday (depending on scheduling options).
The space is wheelchair accessible and the menu has lots of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options (and all clearly labeled!).  There is plenty of free street parking and the 72 bus will drop you off within a block of The Radio Room.  The munch will meet on the main floor instead of in the lounge areas so that we won’t be limited to 21+.  This does mean that we can’t be too demonstrative about our kink so as not to scare off their other patrons, but the venue is completely aware of what our group is about and is happy to have us there!  Please buy something to support the venue so that they’ll keep having us back.  They do know that not everyone will be ordering food/eating full meals, but please do get a drink or a snack.  Bottomless coffee is $2, and an order of fries is $3, to give you an idea of the prices.

This information is aimed especially at the Seattle gay male leather community.  Some events are included which might be seen as non-gay, non-male, and/or non-leather; they are included due to the perceived breadth of people who may visit this web page and the crossover nature of events of those types with the gay male leather community.
About Out-of-Town Events: These events are listed below a green line for each date, and include both events throughout the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia) and larger-scope national events (especially those which will be attended by some members of Seattle Men in Leather).  For out-of-Seattle events, we typically only list the most prominent ones (socials, board meetings, and the like).  Activity listings for those groups and those regions may provide a broader listings of events.
About Bear, Rodeo, CW Dance, etc., Events: As above, we pick and choose which of these events to include.  All Seattle-area events are included, but only prominent regional and national events are listed.  (As a rule of thumb, we list board meetings and events at leather bars, but not movie nights, munches, dances, etc.)  Activity listings for those groups and those regions may provide a broader listings of events.
About Pansexual and Workshop Events: Also included in the calendar are a selection of events primarily aimed at the kinky straight or pansexual community, but appropriate for or welcoming of gay male (and GLBTQ) leatherfolk. Typically, these are workshops which are not specifically heterosexually themed, but a fewplay parties and weekend events are also included where appropriate. Keeping in mind the gay male leather intent behind this calendar, we list events which have an obvious attraction for and are clearly welcoming of the gay male leather crowd.  (Many “pansexual” events really have nothing to recommend them to gay male leatherfolk: we might not be turned away, but why would we attend?)  Decisions about what to list are informed by the text and imagery of websites and event announcements; if you feel that your event truly should be of interest to gay male leatherfolk and is not currently being listed, please contact us (and check the text and imagery you make available).

Send your event details to us. We will try to list all leather/fetish events expected to be of interest to the GLBTQ leather community, including both one-time events and recurring ones.  Include the event name, date, time, location, cost for the event, and contact info, plus a short description if available.  Deadline for sending items to be included in the weekly e-mail version of the calendar is Monday at 6:00 pm (Pacific time).  Items and corrections provided at other times will be inserted into the online calendar as they are received (and as we have time).
Disclaimer #1: SoundsKinky is not responsible for either the events listed here nor for the accuracy of the information included.  We apologize if we fail to include your event, but we’re only human.  Sometimes events, vacations, work, and life get in the way.  And you darn well better get it to us before the deadline if you want it in the listings!
Disclaimer #2: Seattle Men in Leather (SML) includes events from other organizations on this list as a service to the community.  Only events which are specifically hosted by Seattle Men in Leather qualify for the SML activity rewards program.
