BikersBorder Riders Motorcycle Club Portland Day Ride
Depart from various (captain@borderriders.com for details), ~9:00 am
BearsBear Invasion of Sunday Social Bowlers
West Seattle Bowl (4505 39th Ave. SW, Seattle), 10:10 am–12:30 pm (arrive at 10:10 am to warm up) / $9.50 (includes shoe rental; $6.50 if you have you own bowling shoes)
The Sunday Social Bowlers is a GLBT bowling group that has been meeting nearly every week for over fifty years.  We offer a casual, just-for-fun environment and are comprised of bowlers at all skill levels from beginner through expert.  Many of us are Bear-identified.  The West Seattle Bowl offers a family-friendly environment that is equally GLBT-friendly — they host multiple GLBT bowling leagues each week in addition to the Sunday Social Bowlers.  Plan to arrive around 10:10 so you’ll have time to pay, say hello, and get your shoes on.  Warm-up bowling starts at 10:20. The first game starts at 10:30; we play three consecutive games.  If you’re running late, come anyway — you’ll be able to hang out with us through the remainder of the first game and then join us for the second and third games.  We’re usually done by 12:30.  If you know the night before that you’ll be coming, please send an e-mail to a079436@yahoo.com so we can give the bowling alley a rough idea of how many lanes to reserve for us.

WorkshopBondage for Control
1404 NW 49th St., Seattle, 5:00–8:00 pm / $35 ($30 in advance, duo rate available)
Part of Suspended Animation’s Tying With Purpose workshop series.  As well as being a great addition to other kinds of play, bondage is a lot of fun in its own right.  This class focuses on techniques for strict, immobilizing bondage.  If you fantasize about watching your partner squirm helplessly in your rope, this is the class for you.  One of the best ways to truly immobilize someone is to tie them to the bed (or the couch, or the rack).  Although it’s easy to tie someone fairly securely, it is surprisingly hard to completely immobilize them.  Making everything tighter isn’t the answer: overly tight bondage isn’t more secure, and it can be uncomfortable or even dangerous.   We’ll take a look at ties and techniques that are strict and secure without being unsafe.  There are times, however, when you don’t have any furniture to tie to.  For those situations, the hogtie is a great choice.  One of the classic bondage positions, the hogtie is tremendously fun and versatile.  The traditional hogtie is a physically demanding tie, but we’ll look at options for making it more comfortable as well as more challenging.  We’ll also talk about how to adapt the hogtie to different body types and physical limitations.  This is one of three intermediate level classes in the Tying With Purpose series — the other two are Bondage For Sex (rope for the bedroom and beyond) and Bondage For Power (tying for dominance and pain play).  Although each class focuses on a particular style of play, the basic techniques can be adapted to a wide variety of play styles.  The three classes may be taken in any order and together provide a comprehensive bondage education.
People of all genders and orientations are welcome in this class.  This is an intermediate level class.  You should be familiar with basic kink concepts and should be able to tie a single column tie.  You can attend on your own, but it’s more fun if you bring a partner.  You will need to bring your own rope to this class.  We recommend at least two 10-15′ lengths and at least one 20-30’ length.

Tom of Finland Movie opens Friday, December 8 at the Vancouver International Film Festival’s Vancity Theatre.  Tickets are now on sale!  The proudly erotic drawings of artist Touko Laaksonen, known to the world as Tom of Finland, shaped the fantasies of a generation of gay men, influencing art and fashion before crossing over into the wider cultural consciousness.  But who was the man behind the leather? Dome Karukoski’s stirring biopic follows his life from the trenches of WWII and repressive Finnish society of the 1950s through his struggle to get his work published in California, where he and his art were finally embraced amid the sexual revolution of the 1970s.  Tom’s story is one of love, courage and perseverance, mirroring the gay liberation movement for which his leather-clad studs served as a defiant emblem.

Presented by Max.  This is a highly interactive event, mostly comprised of demos on attendee volunteers.  It provides a safe and informal space to observe, experience, learn, and discuss a number of kink activities.  After a brief introduction covering scene dynamics, negotiation and safety, volunteers have opportunities to bottom to Max for demos which may include:
• Rope bondage
• Electrical toys — violet wands, TENS/ErosTek, stun guns and zappers
• Needles / temporary piercing
• Pressure points
• Floggers
• Singletail whips
• Canes
• D/S and service dynamics
• Leather & metal bondage (including hoods)
• Cages
• Erotic hypnosis
Each demo will include some time for a debrief and Q&A.  This is a great workshop for anyone curious about kink, as it’s an unusual opportunity to see many different types of play up close and personal.  It’s also valuable for more experienced kinksters who would like to see a professional demonstration.  And it’s a great opportunity to meet Max and to do a demo scene with him, of course.  This workshop assumes no previous experience, and is appropriate for all genders and orientations.  You can bring a partner or a group of friends, but coming alone is completely comfortable and appropriate.  If you miss this workshop or want a deeper experience, Max also offers private instruction for bondage and many other BDSM techniques.  Class size is limited and preregistration is required.

WorkshopGiving and Accepting Service
Max’s Dungeon (Seattle), 7:00–10:00 pm / $40 (in advance)
Many kinksters love the idea of service, but struggle to make it work.  That’s not surprising — giving and accepting service requires a different toolset than sensation-based S/M or power-based D/S.  Service can be deep, quiet and profound — or it can be challenging for both the top and the bottom.  This workshop will help tops receive service gracefully and will help bottoms who wish to offer service.  Max will present several models for service and service relationships, and will provide specific techniques you can use to define and nurture your own service dynamic.  As with all of Max’s workshops, a handout will be provided to help you remember what’s been said.  This workshop assumes no previous experience, and is appropriate for all genders and orientations.
WorkshopRope Bondage: Beyond the Basics
Bossanova Ballroom (722 E Burnside St., Portland), 7:00–10:00 pm / $20, $35 for couples (in advance)
This class is designed for beginner to intermediate levels.  Rope Bondage: The basics and beyond, will briefly cover some of the basics of Rope 101, then dive deeper into some of the theories, techniques, and specific ties that lay the foundation for more advance bondage play.  Think of this class as a combined Rope 101 & 201.  Most beginners rope classes teach you a few basic ties and then send you on your way without telling you how to use those ties.  Together we will take the next steps and explore the practical uses of those basic ties and how to turn them into sexy moments between you and a partner.  This class will involve lots of hands of practice.  If you’re interested in learning to tie, or curious about being tied and don’t have a partner, you should still come out as we’ll do our best to pair singles during practice times.

MenMarch of the Mistletomosexuals
CC Attle’s to Cuff Complex (Seattle), 9:00 pm–12:00 midnight / Cover per venue
It’s Seattle’s gay version of Santarchy/Santacon.  It’s a Santa-themed bar crawl, with awesome costumes, Santas, misfit toys, and more fun than you can shake a candy cane at!  The plan is to begin massing around 9:00 pm at CC Attle’s. CC’s is big enough to hold most, if not all of us.  From there, we’ll begin our march on Broadway to the Pike-Pine corridor around 10:00 pm.  We’ll patronize Diesel, Madison Pub, Queer/Bar, and Pony; these are small establishments, so feel free to pick one.  The goal is to meet back up again at the Cuff around 11:00/11:30.  Many may choose to hang out at the Cuff for the rest of the night, with others rolling down the hill to the Eagle.
Some general rules:
• Wear a costume. The “true” Santacon/Santarchy uniform is a Santa suit.  The March of the Mistletomosexuals is “gay Santarchy,” so our group is naturally more creative and definitely more flamboyant.  Wear lights, tinsel, and glitter!  Be a reindeer, or an elf, if you want.  Heck, be a Grinch, if you like. SIMPLY WEARING A SANTA HAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE (unless you’re otherwise nearly naked).  Not wearing a full costume is lame and we will NOT let you play our reindeer games.
• Please behave responsibly: bring your ID; pay cover chanrges without complaint; be courteous to the public; stay with your group; if a bar is too crowded, move on to then next one; and bring cab fare to get home.
• It’s sad to need to mention this last bit, but due to recent incidents on the Hill, please do not get blitzen and walk around alone.  Stay in a group.  When the night is over, don’t walk back to your car or home alone.  (If you’re tipsy, call a cab.)  Everyone’s goal is to get home safe, alone, or with one or more Santas!
• Be outgoing.  Have fun.  Sing!  Chant!  Cheer!  Get yourself on the naughty list (in a good way).

QueerPDX Queer Munch
Radio Room (1101 NE Alberta, Portland), 6:30–8:30 pm
This munch is for anyone who identifies as queer and their partners.  By queer, we mean gay men, lesbians, fags, dykes, bisexuals, pansexuals, and polysexuals along with transfolk, those who are genderqueer, gender flexible, gender fluid, and gender fuckers.  If the word queer feels like home for part of you or all of you, you are welcome.  And when we say “partner” we mean everything from play partners to life partners.  The Portland Queer Munch will happen every month on the first or second Thursday (depending on scheduling options).
The space is wheelchair accessible and the menu has lots of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options (and all clearly labeled!).  There is plenty of free street parking and the 72 bus will drop you off within a block of The Radio Room.  The munch will meet on the main floor instead of in the lounge areas so that we won’t be limited to 21+.  This does mean that we can’t be too demonstrative about our kink so as not to scare off their other patrons, but the venue is completely aware of what our group is about and is happy to have us there!  Please buy something to support the venue so that they’ll keep having us back.  They do know that not everyone will be ordering food/eating full meals, but please do get a drink or a snack.  Bottomless coffee is $2, and an order of fries is $3, to give you an idea of the prices.

Vancouver International Film Festival (1181 Seymour St., Vancouver, BC), 8:35–10:35 pm / $13

This month, we値l be getting in the spirit of the howlidays by helping our Seattle Area Support Groups at the annual Tree Lot!  We値l need as many helping paws, claws, and hands as possible to help us do everything from tree selection and sales to running the cash register.  We値l be working in three hour shifts, and if earning Service Kennel points wasn稚 enough incentive, volunteers will receive a treat from SASG for each three-hour shift completed.  Please be aware, as this is in December, you値l want to bundle up to stay toasty while you bark up the right tree!  If interest in volunteering, please reach out to Director Biscuit.
BearsSeattle Walking Bears
Green Lake Small Craft Center (5900 West Green Lake Way N, Seattle), 11:00 am–12:00 noon
We gather by the benches between the paved walking path and the restrooms just north of the Small Craft Center.  The most prominent nearby landmark is the grandstand remaining from the former Green Lake Aqua Theater, at the southwest corner of Green Lake.  There is a parking lot on the west side of West Green Lake Way N, opposite the Small Craft Center.  Metro bus routes 44, 62, and E stop within a mile of the Center.  Arrival is around 11:00.  We start walking at 11:10.  From there, we head north to walk around Green Lake in the clockwise direction.  The route is 2.7 miles, entirely paved and flat.  If you’re running late, come anyway — depending on when and where you park or take a bus to, you should be able to intercept us somewhere along the path.  We return to our starting point around noon.

Ingersoll Gender Center (517 E Pike St., Seattle), 3:00–5:00 pm
We are a group of self-identified Leathergirls.  Membership is not limited by race, creed, orientation or gender; however, an identification of Leathergirl is essential.  A girl-heart is an individual self-identity. Seattle girls of Leather is a unique and powerful group of individuals!  Our solidarity and commonality is found in our understanding that the definition of Leathergirl involves who you are and not just how you play.  Meeting is open to members, prospective members, and invited guests.  Get here early to find parking and grab a cup of coffee at the Kaladi Brothers.

Leather Flag line
This information is aimed especially at the Seattle gay male leather community.  Some events are included which might be seen as non-gay, non-male, and/or non-leather; they are included due to the perceived breadth of people who may visit this web page and the crossover nature of events of those types with the gay male leather community.
About Out-of-Town Events: These events are listed below a green line for each date, and include both events throughout the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia) and larger-scope national events (especially those which will be attended by some members of Seattle Men in Leather).  For out-of-Seattle events, we typically only list the most prominent ones (socials, board meetings, and the like).  Activity listings for those groups and those regions may provide a broader listings of events.
About Bear, Rodeo, CW Dance, etc., Events: As above, we pick and choose which of these events to include.  All Seattle-area events are included, but only prominent regional and national events are listed.  (As a rule of thumb, we list board meetings and events at leather bars, but not movie nights, munches, dances, etc.)  Activity listings for those groups and those regions may provide a broader listings of events.
About Pansexual and Workshop Events: Also included in the calendar are a selection of events primarily aimed at the kinky straight or pansexual community, but appropriate for or welcoming of gay male (and GLBTQ) leatherfolk. Typically, these are workshops which are not specifically heterosexually themed, but a fewplay parties and weekend events are also included where appropriate. Keeping in mind the gay male leather intent behind this calendar, we list events which have an obvious attraction for and are clearly welcoming of the gay male leather crowd.  (Many “pansexual” events really have nothing to recommend them to gay male leatherfolk: we might not be turned away, but why would we attend?)  Decisions about what to list are informed by the text and imagery of websites and event announcements; if you feel that your event truly should be of interest to gay male leatherfolk and is not currently being listed, please contact us (and check the text and imagery you make available).
Leather Flag line
Send your event details to us. We will try to list all leather/fetish events expected to be of interest to the GLBTQ leather community, including both one-time events and recurring ones.  Include the event name, date, time, location, cost for the event, and contact info, plus a short description if available.  Deadline for sending items to be included in the weekly e-mail version of the calendar is Monday at 6:00 pm (Pacific time).  Items and corrections provided at other times will be inserted into the online calendar as they are received (and as we have time).
Disclaimer #1: SoundsKinky is not responsible for either the events listed here nor for the accuracy of the information included.  We apologize if we fail to include your event, but we’re only human.  Sometimes events, vacations, work, and life get in the way.  And you darn well better get it to us before the deadline if you want it in the listings!
Disclaimer #2: Seattle Men in Leather (SML) includes events from other organizations on this list as a service to the community.  Only events which are specifically hosted by Seattle Men in Leather qualify for the SML activity rewards program.
