Men Tying Men is a rope bondage enthusiast group for men and for people with lived experience as men.  Its aim is to be an excellent place for us to share bondage techniques and resources and to bring our latest projects for feedback and troubleshooting.  Not a play party (clothes are required), but a chance to talk bondage, to practice bondage, to learn and teach bondage and to network with other bondage obsessives.  Men of all experience levels are welcome — including those with zero practical experience.  The facilitators will always be available to answer questions and to gently guide the conversation.  Single men, couples, and groups are welcome.  We will always try to make sure that everyone who wants to join in at practice times will have that opportunity.  Our venue is Gallery Erato. It has great wrestling mats for our floor work, places to sit during our discussions and hard points for suspension practice.  It’s perfect for what we need.
Men Tying Men meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the 2nd month of each quarter: February 20, May 15, August 21, and November 20 in 2019.

LeatherMr. Leather Movie
Cineplex Odeon – International Village Cinemas (88 W Pender St. #3, Vancouver, BC), 9:30 pm / $14
In 2018, the second edition of the Mr. Leather Brazil competition is underway.  The title is being fought over by Dom PC, Kake, Deh Leather, and Maoriguy.  The winner will receive the ribbon from the hands of Dom Barbudo, the first Mr. Leather in the country, and has the task to promote the culture of leather during the next year.  The contest stirs the passions of the gay fetish community of São Paulo.  This artful and intimate documentary tells the history of the Brazilian Mr. Leather competition, a thrilling opportunity for the emerging leather and kink community in the city of São Paulo.  Featuring a sardonic but loving narrator who takes great pleasure in the drama of recounting the love and resentments within the community, this sexy documentary takes a mischievous, intimate view into leather culture, probing personal histories, gender politics, and queer visibility in the increasingly politically conservative Brazilian nation.  The film also never lets the interviewees get away with contradictions when it comes to issues of gender and inclusion, offering a more radical approach to how a leather community can work.  The stylized, artistic approach to documentary makes Mr. Leather a unique, sincere journey into a culture that is often misunderstood and misrepresented.

QueerPDX Queer Munch
Radio Room (1101 NE Alberta, Portland), 6:00–8:00 pm
This munch is for anyone who identifies as queer and their partners.  By queer, we mean gay men, lesbians, fags, dykes, bisexuals, pansexuals, and polysexuals along with transfolk, those who are genderqueer, gender flexible, gender fluid, and gender fuckers.  If the word queer feels like home for part of you or all of you, you are welcome.  And when we say “partner” we mean everything from play partners to life partners.  The Portland Queer Munch will happen every month on the first or second Thursday (depending on scheduling options).
The space is wheelchair accessible and the menu has lots of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options (and all clearly labeled!).  There is plenty of free street parking and the 72 bus will drop you off within a block of The Radio Room.  The munch will meet on the main floor instead of in the lounge areas so that we won’t be limited to 21+.  This does mean that we can’t be too demonstrative about our kink so as not to scare off their other patrons, but the venue is completely aware of what our group is about and is happy to have us there!  Please buy something to support the venue so that they’ll keep having us back.  They do know that not everyone will be ordering food/eating full meals, but please do get a drink or a snack.  Bottomless coffee is $2, and an order of fries is $3, to give you an idea of the prices.

Join folks from the local kink and leather communities as we gather together for some great conversation over a glass of your favorite beverage or a hot slice of pizza.  Meet new folks, catch up with old friends, share information, techniques, skills, and the like.  This open event is a great way to find out about local events, parties, or to just grow your own personal network.  No guided discussions, no presentations, just relaxed conversation with some great folks.  This event is held twice monthly, on the 2nd and 4th thursdays, at one of Tacoma’s favorite pizza joints, Puget Sound Pizza.  While it is open to the public, we tend to take over the entire lower bar.  Dress is casual public.  Eating dinner is not required and tips are appreciated.  NOTE: This is an 18+ event and not a topic discussion group.  If this is your first time attending please say hello to our host Sir Doug so that he can properly welcome you!  If you don’t see Sir Doug around, please introduce yourself to any of the SSLA Members in attendance (we are usually wearing a leather vest with a SSLA patch on the back) or our surrogate co-host, Maxx who also hosts the Kinky Cocktails & Karaoke afterwards.  We want to have the opportunity to say hello, welcome you, and answer any questions that you might have!

WorkshopExploring Electrocity
Gallery Erato (3019 1st Ave. S, Seattle), 1:00–3:00 pm / $30 ($22 in advance, duo and trio tickets available)
Electricity is versatile.  The buzz and crackle of a violet wand is sexy.  The sound of a high-voltage stungun can grab your attention like not much else.  Direct nerve and muscle stimulation with TENS devices can take you anywhere from a pleasant tickle to a hands-free orgasm; from a silent signal across the room, to instantly folded on the floor.  Want to learn about these?  We’ll talk about all of them and more, with plenty of demonstrations.  Electricity can also be dangerous.  This workshop will provide the few simple basics you need to know to manage your risks when working with common equipment.  The focus will be on practical skills using electricity for scenes that create some combination of joy, terror, and bliss with your partner.  Taught by Russell Harmon, who has sometimes bought electrical contacts instead of food.  No late entry will be allowed due to the intimate nature of this workshop.  Doors will be locked at 10 minutes after the start time.  Open to all 18+.  Attendance is limited to 30 people.

The LEEP Kennel is proud to offer a new experience at the Public Mosh: Mat-Side Puppy Training!  Whether this is your first visit to the Mosh, or maybe you’re just not quite sure how to get in on the fun, our Guest Trainer will be teaching the basics of Moshing to help get you comfortable getting in on the fun and engaging on the mats with all the other Pups!  Look for Mat-Side Training during the first 30 minutes of the Public Mosh in a corner of the Quiet Mats!

LeatherMen Tying Men
Gallery Erato (309 1st Ave. S, Seattle), 6:00–9:00 pm / $5–10 donation

WorkshopAll The Demos!
Private location in Seattle, 7:00–10:00 pm / $35 (buy in advance)
Presented by Max.  This is a highly interactive event, mostly comprised of demos on attendee volunteers.  It provides a safe and informal space to observe, experience, learn, and discuss a number of kink activities.  After a brief introduction covering scene dynamics, negotiation and safety, volunteers have opportunities to bottom to Max for demos which may include:
• Rope bondage
• Electrical toys — violet wands, TENS/ErosTek, stun guns and zappers
• Needles / temporary piercing
• Pressure points
• Floggers
• Singletail whips
• Canes
• D/S and service dynamics
• Leather & metal bondage (including hoods)
• Cages
• Erotic hypnosis
Each demo will include some time for a debrief and Q&A.  This is a great workshop for anyone curious about kink, as it’s an unusual opportunity to see many different types of play up close and personal.  It’s also valuable for more experienced kinksters who would like to see a professional demonstration.  And it’s a great opportunity to meet Max and to do a demo scene with him, of course.  This workshop assumes no previous experience, and is appropriate for all genders and orientations.  You can bring a partner or a group of friends, but coming alone is completely comfortable and appropriate.  If you miss this workshop or want a deeper experience, Max also offers private instruction for bondage and many other BDSM techniques.  Class size is limited and preregistration is required.

This information is aimed especially at the Seattle gay male leather community.  Some events are included which might be seen as non-gay, non-male, and/or non-leather; they are included due to the perceived breadth of people who may visit this web page and the crossover nature of events of those types with the gay male leather community.
About Out-of-Town Events: These events are listed below a green line for each date, and include both events throughout the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia) and larger-scope national events (especially those which will be attended by some members of Seattle Men in Leather).  For out-of-Seattle events, we typically only list the most prominent ones (socials, board meetings, and the like).  Activity listings for those groups and those regions may provide a broader listings of events.
About Bear, Rodeo, CW Dance, etc., Events: As above, we pick and choose which of these events to include.  All Seattle-area events are included, but only prominent regional and national events are listed.  (As a rule of thumb, we list board meetings and events at leather bars, but not munches, non-leather dances, etc.)  Activity listings for those groups and those regions may provide a broader listings of events.
About Pansexual and Workshop Events: Also included in the calendar are a selection of events primarily aimed at the kinky straight or pansexual community, but appropriate for or welcoming of gay male (and GLBTQ) leatherfolk. Typically, these are workshops which are not specifically heterosexually themed, but a fewplay parties and weekend events are also included where appropriate. Keeping in mind the gay male leather intent behind this calendar, we list events which have an obvious attraction for and are clearly welcoming of the gay male leather crowd.  (Many “pansexual” events really have nothing to recommend them to gay male leatherfolk: we might not be turned away, but why would we attend?)  Decisions about what to list are informed by the text and imagery of websites and event announcements; if you feel that your event truly should be of interest to gay male leatherfolk and is not currently being listed, please contact us (and check the text and imagery you make available).

Send your event details to us. We will try to list all leather/fetish events expected to be of interest to the GLBTQ leather community, including both one-time events and recurring ones.  Include the event name, date, time, location, cost for the event, and contact info, plus a short description if available.  Deadline for sending items to be included in the weekly e-mail version of the calendar is Monday at 6:00 pm (Pacific time).  Items and corrections provided at other times will be inserted into the online calendar as they are received (and as we have time).
Disclaimer #1: SoundsKinky is not responsible for either the events listed here nor for the accuracy of the information included.  We apologize if we fail to include your event, but we’re only human.  Sometimes events, vacations, work, and life get in the way.  And you darn well better get it to us before the deadline if you want it in the listings!
Disclaimer #2: Seattle Men in Leather (SML) includes events from other organizations on this list as a service to the community.  Only events which are specifically hosted by Seattle Men in Leather qualify for the SML activity rewards program.
